It’s time for the Git User’s Survey 2011!

The Git User’s Survey 2011 is now up!

Please devote a few minutes of your time to fill out the simple questionnaire; it’ll help the Git community understand your needs, what you like about Git (and what you don’t), and overall help us improve it.

The survey will be open from 5 September to 3 October 2011.

The results will be published at GitSurvey2011.

On the eve of the Emirates Melbourne Cup we’ve put your questions to top Australian broadcaster Shane Anderson.

Shane is the international racing commentator for Radio Sport National in Melbourne and has witnessed the build-up to another eagerly-awaited renwal of the Flemington showpiece.

How significant is the barrier draw for the Melbourne Cup?

Shane Anderson: Not as significant as it formerly was since Flemington’s been remodelled which they did around 2005. Horses can now cover a bit of ground around the track because the camber of the course changed. You still have the best part of 900 metres from where they start to the turn out of the home straight and a horse can find a position. If you’re caught wide it isn’t as big a disadvantage as it is at other tracks in Australia.
